I'm soon to be getting a TII and swapping it into my 87, how much boost do they push stock and can it be turned up? How much is to much on the stock turbo? What would be a good turbo to upgade too when I plan on buying a new one?

This has been a well debated topic for quite some time. Depending on what series T2 engine you got, it will range from about 6ish to 9ish from the factory.

As far as the max..... I am not going to say becuase we will then have a huge long post of people going back and forth saying that it can handle anything and others saying that stock is the most. Remeber that the turbo is a stock part with mileage and abuse.

As far as an upgrade, it all matters on how much power you want. If you just want something a little better, do a BNR hybrid (I don't hybrids, but I have yet to hear anything bad about them). Anything above that, I would do an all out T4.

Do a search and I am sure that you will find you answers as they have been answered many times.

Thanks for advice and what not, and another question on top of that, how much psi does a T3/T4 push and full out T4 push. Would i be able to use mitsubishi turbos 'cause i know the Gredddy are all mitsubishi spec any more advice would be greatly appreciated.

if you're swapping a turbo into your NA, id worry about swapping the rest of the drivetrain to TII stuff too, or you'll have plenty of power and a stripped tranny, popped diff, or something else broken

The T3/T4 I am not really sure. I don't like them so I don't use them. But I have seen people push in the upper 20s. Depending on the size of the T4, you can push what ever you want. Just make sure you have supporting modifications for the power you want.

So swap over a TII tranny, diff and what not?

Another thing i forgot how much boost can a TII motor handle with stock internals?

toplessFC3Sman 06-27-2006 05:38 PM

you'll want to swap the tranny, diff, and because the turbo II shaft ends and lengths are different, you'll need the driveshaft and half-shafts as well

ExplicitRotary 06-27-2006 05:44 PM

So the entire dravetrain including the rear-end and what not.

Tune on a dyno with a wideband. Cant really give you a max psi. People blow engines at stock boost on bad tunning.
