Does anybody know where to find a turbo kit for the NA RX7?

I have been looking for awhile and i cant find one. Any help is appreciated

Here's the deal..there are none. The reason being that the NA motor is a higher compression motor that will not accept boost reliably. My personal belief as to why they never really made a kit though, is because in Japan...there is no NA rx7, they are all turbo, and all the companies that manufacturer kits for our cars are japanese companys(TRUST, HKS, ETC). However, you are able to put a stock T2 turbo on an NA, and you can run about 6psi safely if you tune it correctly. Very few people have done this, and I considered it myself, but later changed my mind and funds :frown: . If you want some detail on how to do this, I can help to the best of my ability, but since I never actually did the conversion, I dont know exactly how descriptive I can get.

Think about this though(this is what made me really consider the conversion).

Take the 86-88 Block(NA): 146 higher compression

Take the 87-88 Block(turbo): 185 lower compression

Take the 87Turbo and put it to the NA motor w/ the higher compression and you'll gain at least 40+HP...you can take a stock Turbo II and a stock NA, put the turbo on the NA from the TurboII and have MORE(much more) HP then the stock T2. If tuned correctly w/ the NA motor you can boost 8PSI put good exhaust, intake, manifolds, FMIC, boost controller, turbo timer, and a few other good turbo tuning goodies, and that mild NA will have become a WILD 300HP+ TURBO. Ok I'll stop rambling...this is making me want to do this again...

Good call, just check Atkins out and they have a supercharger, not a turbo.

Just a Little info about N/A's



Before yuo start making major mods such as a Supercharger or Turbo, keep in mind that the N/A Tranny is not as strong as a Turbo II tranny, so it wont handle great ammounts of power./



It has been said that the most power you should have with an N/A tranny, is about 230HP or so.



Sometimes it would be better to save the $3,000 that you would spent on Supercharger, Carb, Pump, and maybe injectors. And Just buy a Turbo II and start from there.



That is what I have decided to do, and hope it will happen sooner than later.

There are many ways to get around this problem.



1) Sell your current car and buy a TII, or for that matter, keep your current car and buy a TII. Two is better than one right?



2) I've heard that some people have had success putting a turbo on an N/A motor. They run low amounts of boost, and get something to make sure the engine is getting enough fuel. Some of these people keep the stock N/A tranny, some find a TII tranny.



3) Get the entire driveline from a TII. I believe you will need the motor, tranny, driveshaft, differential (because you would want the LSD), wiring harness, ECU, and I think that's it.



Most people would reccommend #1, for its sheer simplicity. Some would say if the car has sentimental value to you (or it's a convertible), go ahead and devise a plan of action for either #2 or #3.
