I'm continuing to yank pieces off my car in an attempt to get the turbo off for the purpose of porting the wastegate. I still don't think there's enough room to get it out without taking off the intake manifold, but I'll worry about that when I get there in a day or two.



When I took off the TID, I noticed it is split right where it goes over the turbo. It appears to be the original piece. I guess age and heat finally caught up with it.



My question: Where can I get a better than stock TID? I know it's on the list of things to upgrade, and since I need a new one, the time is now!

Check on thepartstrader.com, some guy usually sells these nice polish 3" TIDs for about $150...they'll get ya a lil extra hp and better breathing for the turbo and they look good. Check there....or you can always go buy some prebent pipes from an autostore and rig up your own little setup...other then that, no company makes an actual performance replacement.....let us know how it goes...

yah, or go to home depot and go the the racing, i mean plumbing isle.

the 87-88 turbo will come off, its a pain though they have the flange at a weird angle

Im getting the same intercooler, and no one around here can make the piping, and i dont want to spend alot of cash trying to make it myself with expensive stuff. :(

the guys name on the partstrader is Chris Sanders. I have to admit that they are NICE. Clean welds, and beautifully polished. i don't have it anymore as it's too small for my 60-1. But 7mech is now reaping the benefits of that. ask him what he thinks.
