How many of you would buy a radiator panel for your car?

foopy 10-15-2003 12:56 PM

wut does it do exactly, and how much?

mazdaspeed7 10-15-2003 01:04 PM

I never stopped selling the carbon fiber ones, I just stopped advertising...

Baldy 10-15-2003 01:23 PM

is that what goes over the hood latch area? Is it just for looks?

Seppuku 10-15-2003 01:29 PM

1 Attachment(s)
they are not just for looks they keep airflow going to the radiator. This is a pic of mikes car. It doesnt have mine on it but it just shows you what they are. Pricing would be around 30-45 and i can paint them if you would like.

djgiantrobot 10-15-2003 02:04 PM

if you have a TII with a front mount (at least if you have the old style greddy like mine) you have to take the stock ones off, this will fit with the front mount in place

kevin.

banzaitoyota 10-15-2003 05:34 PM

fc3s.org also has them in STOCK

Seppuku 10-15-2003 06:59 PM

Well i guess there is no interest then since everyone is just talking about someone elses. Another thing my price is almost half of what fc3s.org wants for theirs.

FrestyleFC3S 10-15-2003 07:00 PM

id want one.....my intake is routed in there so its probably even cooler with that

Yours are aluminum, correct? I didnt mean to hijack your thread. And Ill go ahead and say my cf ones are definately priced a good bit more than your piece.

sunshine 10-15-2003 07:03 PM

What would your panel be made out of? Can we see a pic?

I like your price...so I am interested.

Aerdodyne makes a much better unit for $45, hard to beat that..

but if that fc3s.org unit is anything like the one mazdaspeed7 used to sell( which i think it is) they are PIECES OF ****. I have one and not only did I spend $85 on a single sheet of cf, I had to cut the hell out of it with a dremel and its got a nice crack it in becuase it so thin. Better of making something else. But then again, fc owners are CHEAP sob's. Cater to fd guys, they have money.

Rob x-7 10-15-2003 07:52 PM

I think Jim had one on his car, sometimes it would get

out of wack and you had to use a screwdriver to pop the hood open.

Not sure if your supposed to screw them down or some ****, but I remember him saying something to the effect having to trim it as well

to fit. It just looked like a thin piece of nothing actually.

Seppuku 10-15-2003 07:59 PM

mine will be cut to fit and test fited so should have no issues there

But areodyne already offers that for $45.

Rob x-7 10-15-2003 08:11 PM

im going to go out on a limb and say that revvin wouldnt buy one

Did you get one of my first ones? The first few panels I sold were made off a template I later ralized was from an FC with a bent frame. The fitment issue was fixed by the 4th panel I sold. If you had one of the first ones, where nothing seemed to line up, send me a PM. Ill send you another panel for just the shipping costs.

If they are nice peices then Im sure they would sell.

Seppuku 10-15-2003 08:56 PM

well i have no one on here to vouch for me but i make sure all my work is perfect.

neevosh 10-15-2003 09:36 PM

I saw the FC3S.org one at SS6, and I thought that it looked cheap. Looked very flimsy and like it was cut to shape with a hand saw. I also saw the Aerodyne one. Looked really nice. If people don't care about looks, just make one out of cardboard and spraypaint it. That's what I have. It was originally supposed to be a template, but I got lazy and didn't feel like spending money on something I didn't need.

pengaru 10-15-2003 10:36 PM

It's not difficult to go to http://aircraftspruce.com or http://fiberglast.com and buy some supplies to make a flat sheet of CF for your car and cut it to fit.

flat sheets are ridiculously easy to make, paying someone else for it is kindof silly, unless the price is damn good with fit and finish at least as good as you can do. (fit and finish is generally a function of time spent on the piece btw, and cheap usually equates minimal time invested when it's from a one man show).

there are plenty of good books available on the subject.

If that's FD powered FC Jim then it may have been the one I gave him. I had it laying around and didn't need it. It was the 1st one that was fabed, to fit my car. My car has "special" needs. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png We have sense refined it to a perfect OEM fit.

Did it realy lock up his hood? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png Man!! I think I'm going to fab one just for him (stock OEM Fit) I hate to here that happened. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

That one was mad out of .65 diamond cut aluminum.

I still have those stock plastic deflector panels in there or whatever they are... how is this better?

actually he had a CF one, it was one a turbo vert, I honestly dont know

who he got it from, I never said he got it from you necessarily.

flat panels of CF-super easy to make, some clear UV stable epoxy resin, CF matting, mold release wax and a nice formica counter to use as a mold and your in

business, along with some odds and ends like brushes, buckets and rollers and

what not. Almost any smooth flat shiny surface will do for a glassing table.

pengaru 10-16-2003 08:25 PM

sheets of window pane gass work nicely for making sheets of CF too.
