These may seem very dumb. Especially coming from me.

1.Does the back of the motor need to be supported when the transmission is removed? As in, is the gearbox the 3rd motor mount?

2.the exhaustsystem has completey..and i mean completely fallen apart upon me trying to remove it. Should i just buy that $1300 dollar true dual setup from mazdatrix?

1. No the motor mounts will support the engine. The transmission on the other hand does need to be supported so that it just doesn't fall to the floor.

2. Deffinately replace the exhaust. The type you use to replace it with is your choice.

Yea I have never had to block the engine when I remove the tranny.

that seems a bit much for exhaust, i would look around a bit.

you can pull tranny engine will stay put

exhaust if you can have an exhaust shop make it would be cheapest. just needs to be SS

I like to use a hoist or something on the front engine hook so it tips back a little bit when removing & reinstalling the trans. It makes it a bit easier to keep everything aliigned while sliding it out/in.

my hanes manual. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blush.png Tells me to support the engine when removing the tranny. So I do cause its the least bit of information have gotten so far!

As for the exhaust, if you want a true dual exhaust setup... get a racing beat 2 into 2 header i think the race one and go to a muffler shop and make them make 2 pipes from the header to the mufflers. the mufflers u can buy of ur choice but i guarantee u wont spend over 1300 or even close to that

header-$200 and thats being a little overexagerating

piping- $300 tops

mufflers-$ 240 for both

$740?

Apex13B 09-12-2003 05:29 PM

thanks guys. i made a y-pipe today at the shop https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png and i'm going to order a bonez midpipe and a highflow cat (race and road swap out)

the gearbox is out and apart...its totally fucked up :-(

Thats the idea, make it yourself, or have it mad locally, you have the template you need from the existing exhaust https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR
