Looking at picking up a 90 GXL auto for pretty cheap. Is it hard to swap over to a man. I have a 5 speed parts car?

on mine i did the gauges, the shifter, the pedals, and the clutch master and left the heavy stuff to a mechanic with a lift. Those parts that i did werent too bad. The pedals were a little frustrating though. On the gauges i just put a tach from a manual cluster in my auto cluster.

thats cool. what about the eshaft being balanced? I know the auto flywheels have a counter balance. When the autotrans or na motor go I am planing on doing a full T2 swap. its in much better shape then my T2

i didnt have to have a counterweight added, seems like it is on the front. one thing i would recommend though is have the real mounts welded in. I didnt do this and kind of regret it. ive been driving mine like that for a while now and its been fine even with somewhat frequent hard driving, but its always in the back of your mind that it could break, or that it isnt driving like a factory manual car would.

are u talikng about the transmission mounts.

i'm doing my swap next weekend and i have everything including the standard trans crossmember mount. i wont have to make any mod or bracket to the rans crossmember to install everything will i it should be a direct bolt on because i have the correct crossmember right? cuz if not then i guess i gotta get to modding it.

no the auto mount is closer to the back of the car than the manual by about 8-10 inches. you either have to make a piece to make the mount work, or cut the mounting spots out of a manual and weld them to the trans tunnel of your car. With this method you have to lift the carpet on the inside so you dont catch it on fire. that is the best way to do it like i was saying before, but i did it the other way and it has been fine for over a year even with some hard driving, not really any launches though, my car is all stock. there is a good write up at the club, i though i had it bookmarked but i dont so let me go look for it.

Shane.Trammell 06-17-2007 10:04 AM

here is the write up, i know at one point there were pics of the mounts so i will keep looking for that. http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=20...=auto+to+manual

Slideways FC 06-17-2007 03:03 PM
