Is it possible to put a motor from an automatic car into a manual car?

do I have to change anything on the motor? or are they the same.

(1986 13B)

Thanks

Alex

The engines are the same, but you will need a flywheel and a clutch off a manual, you will also have fun getting the crossmember to bolt up, you will need to redrill and weld in new studs on the main body for the manual crossmember. You will also need the pedal set from a manual car because the clutch and brake pedal are different.

He is talking a auto engine to a manual car.

Awnserw Is yes, I did this in my car I had an 88 SE that had an auto tranny(Didnt Last to long) and it was about $800 to fix Then I bought my 86 Sport for $350 with a bad motor and swaped the motor into the sport.

You need the MT fly wheel or a lightened flywheel with the at counter weight and the MT clucth. If it is S4 engine you need an S4 flywheel dont mix and macth. besides that you should have no problem.

You can swap it right over. You will want to plug the vacuum line on the manifold that is used to go to the Automatic transmission.

The Flywheel is better if it comes from the same year as the engine. The S4 had a flywheel and a seperate counter weight. The S5 has the counter weight built in. You can use either one you have access to. If you can only find a S4 flywheel then you can use the counterweight from the Automatic......it will work fine.

Another point you will be very interested in is the Pilot bearing and Seal. The automatic engine does not have a pilot bearing or seal. You will need to purchase them and install them before putting the clutch on.
