I am curious as to what exactly does a TPS control. I purchased an 88 2+2 GXL with a turboII motor about two month ago. As I start to read the posts here and therefore tinker with the car I found that my TPS is not plugged in?? Will this hurt the engine in anyway or compromise my performance or is it mostly for idle. My only real annoying problem with the car is that every now and then I turn the car on and it will only rev to 2k and back to idle which is at about 1100...(it only really happens on cold mornings)....I have to wait about 3 hours and try starting it again and then it runs fine. This has only happened three times since I purchased it but it was very aggrevating to say the least. I want to replace the sensor, but it is to exspensive new.
Things on the GXL at time of purchase: 87 TurboII motor swapped in 3 inch downpipe Fuel cut eliminator Previous owner says it was street ported All emissions and cold start removed. Things I have done since purchase: Removed power steering and A/C Removed fan and replaced with electric one TID mod Fuel pump rewire 89 wheels and rear lights Any suggestions as to a next step?? Thanks in advanced |
tps unplugged? not good i pressume as it lets the computer know where your throttle is , and supplies the fuel and such, other s might be of more assistance
