Does anyone know the max torque to put on the banjo bolt when replacing the FPD on an 87 Turbo II? I have the replacement bolt from Earls but I still get an ever so slight leak from what looks like the banjo to rail crush washer area. I am worried about tightening the hell out of it and stripping the rail. Autozone guy who is pretty sharp but not on rotaries says to ever so slightly continue to tighten till it stops leaking. This is getting annoying. Washers are new and not scarred in any way. Any ideas or suggestions?

I finally got it. Autozone and Earls had been giving me thick oil drain plug type washers. I used the new aluminum from Earls on the head of the banjo bolt but used the thin copper that came off the pd on the banjo to rail side. Boom, (no not fire boom) it worked and seems to be holding. I will double check again tommorrow before putting the tb back on. I did not have to torque the thin washer as much. Much better and frustration allievieted.

Tough lesson to learn the hard way. I guess I will leave the pressure on it for 5 minutes or so and verify tommorrow that there are no leaks. Yep, found that out the hard way about the torque wrench. I think I will cap off the coolant line to the throttle body and get it running and be done with it for a bit. That line is a bear to try to get back on and after two weeks of it being down I think I will take the path of least resistance. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

they actually make torque wrenches with interchangeable heads so you can remove the rachet mechanism and put an open end on it etc...



then theres the crows foot bit thing you can just put the rachet mechanism into.
