I just finished installing my new boost controller and FPR so I decided to give it a shakedown run this afternoon. As usually, ran great. Surprisingly, the Aeromotive FPR made no difference in the driveability. I expected to run too rich.

It was supposed to rain today, but the weather cleared up and decided to give her a nice bath. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Where abouts is that?

I have to be at speedworld most of the weekend running a racepack on a car :(

j9fd3s 03-13-2006 10:22 AM

looks good! i remember fongs fd ran like crap with an fpr on it, but everything else seems fine, ya? GD tuning?

teknics 03-13-2006 02:44 PM

what happened to your front bumper? it used to line up perfectly now it seems off a bit.

in double checking the pics at 2751 id definitely guess it moved, did anything happen or did you just take it off and put it back on for something?

kevin.

One320B 03-13-2006 04:26 PM

Good point..what happened? Your front is authentic too..I'm hoping it just got reinstalled wrong or bumped... i havent put mine on yet..hope mine doesnt do that!

you have the real one too right? I got the rotary extreme one and dont even wanna get started on that crap. without adjusting and re-glassing the the bumper it fit exactly how it looks in those pics. big gaps between top of bumper and top of fender etc. the hood wouldnt even close. thank god for robx-7.

kevin.

cymfc3s 03-13-2006 10:26 PM

No, its never moved actually. Its not a perfect fit, but its the closest I could get without unbolting the quarter panels (both of which are original and untouched) and moving them. In any case, whether the bumper doesnt fit right, or the quarter panels dont really line up with the hood & doors, its not going to be perfect. And using body filler on fiberglass is NOT an option. So, its the best its going to get without me spending a ton of money re-glassing the bumper.

dont be offended, im not dissing your car. my bumper had to be re-glassed like a mother just to get close to a proper fit.

I'm just saying in the pics on 2751engineering.com i dunno maybe its the angle or the sunlight but it lookeed like the top of your bumper was flush with the top of the front fenders. then in this pic it looks like it sank a little.

almost every fc2k front ive seen lines up like that, the bumper being a tad lower then the fenders. i had always remembered your other pics and swore yours was completely flush, thats why i had rob re-glass mine flush cause i figured yours was authentic and i thought it was flush.

no biggie, car still looks sick and im sure drives like a beast.

again, no offense intended.

One320B 03-13-2006 11:28 PM

Yea, i've got the real one. Aside from wanting quality parts for my car, i went w/ the authentic because i thought it would have a better fit. I'm using the FCPRO fenders from RE though too...so maybe it'll all go together just fine.. I'm still getting my front end work out before putting the body back on. Once the engine goes in, i'll throw them on to see how the fit is.

Side note, I have a video (sure you've seen it) of the white FC of RE Amemiyas and at no angle does the front end look like it doesnt line up.. same w/ the pics of the Tokyo auto saloon..but again, it's using their fenders, so that may be it...

meh i paid extra for the fenders to lineup so it doesnt bother me. i was just saying i always thought seth;s car lined up perfectly. i swear in the other pics it did. i just thought something happened and it moved. like 90% of the cars i see have the bumper the same way on stock fenders, maybe thats just how it is on stock fenders.

i guess well see when you put on the bumper with their fenders. id guess itll line up perfect.

One320B 03-14-2006 12:35 AM

I have never seen a aftermarket bumper and fender kit that DIDNT need work to fit good.

One320B 03-14-2006 10:46 AM

Oh yea..my body guy already loves me and all he's done is some metal work up front to straighten out a few things and mock up brake ducts.. lol... I just want good clean lines damnit! I know things dont always match up perfectly..but i'm hoping w/ the right fenders to match the front that it should...

It looks like it lines up in this picture from way back.

j9fd3s 03-14-2006 02:08 PM

i'm pretty sure it was always like that.

The fender is casting a shadow in the first pix. Makes the overlap look worse than what it really appears to be.

In my opinion, the headlight buckets would look better in a matte black.

The goal should be to make it look OEM, like an exotic car would be.

Still nicer than either of my rx's...

yeah thats why its yellow. you can always rattle can it black, but its harder to match the yellow. so its yellow.

its one of those things where it looks good either way, imo, and its also something that depends on the rest of the car too.

cymfc3s 03-14-2006 08:46 PM

The bumper fitment has not changed! The long shadow makes the rise between the bumper and the fender huge.

The actual size as indicated on the micrometer is not as important as it a good visual size reference

If the bumper was completely flush with the rise in the quarter panel, the headlight lids and middle section of the bumper wouldnt line up with the hood anymore.

cymfc3s 03-14-2006 08:53 PM

and for anyone that believes that HELL has not YET frozen over......my car will have a/c in it shortly...

it looks good both ways, and we werent sure which was gonna look better. and its easier to come along and paint it black than it is to match the yellow.
