Going to be some back to back dyno runs in a few weeks; anti-surge housing(pictured) vs regular compressor housing, and the old journal bearing To4R with hks cast vs one of our turbo setups..

Is that your standard long-runner manifold for FC in the pic? What are the pros and cons of long runner vs. short runner?

1Revvin7 04-30-2009 01:10 PM

I usually change every manifold a little bit. Its just another fully divided long runner manifold. The benefit of the long runner manifold is pulling the turbine housing away from the lower intake manifold. Also makes for nicer plumbing of the oil return. This is way I prefer to make them for the FC. The short runner is just for people who want to keep the airpump...

hey, its nick..that looks like some sweet parts there, i wonder what lucky person is getting that manifold and turbo setup...haha

looking forward to the back to back tests

hey elliot, or anyone else interested. Here are some pics of the car this new turbo setup is going on..i just finished a whole restoration on it, new black interior/roll cage/new gp sports kit with a show quality restoration/paint job on the outside. now its time to make the engine bay look a bit nicer..[attachment=45661:S5006884.JPG]

ah yes, that car.

nice

1Revvin7 05-03-2009 09:08 PM

That is clean.

13bturbofc 05-04-2009 07:07 AM

looking great elliot! im so excited to get this setup..im also throwing on a bunch of other mods on the car while its waiting for the turbo setup from you..new tech edge 3a2 wide band/data log unit since my microtech dosen't log auxiliaries and i need a really good wideband with the endless functions like the 3a2 has. Also i just finished a half wire tuck on the car. body harness in the engine bay has been stripped to only the nessisary wires. and those have ben newly wrapped and hidden. And i sent every peice of aluminum out to get polished, CAS, upper and lower intakes, waterpump housing, intercooler piping, throttle body, greddy TB tube and a few small pieces. unfortunately i wont be painting the engine bay untill the next time i pull the motor so the paint in bay wont be as nice as the outside, it did polish up pretty well though. Ill post pics soon.

F**KING sweet!

Rob x-7 05-05-2009 11:38 AM

what kind of power and streetability are we talking with this set up?

how does it compare to lets say a gt35r set up?

13bturbofc 05-05-2009 03:41 PM

well i made 400whp with the old greddy cast undivided with a modded RB downpipe and the old turbo was a T04R which isnt a ball bearing. this was on a bone stock internal motor at only 14 PSI. Im planning on running 20-25 psi on this new setup and it should make 500-600 no problem...this will be with a meth injection system and i drive this car with the current setup on the street all the time. If i remember correctly the T04Z is decently larger then the gt35. It is 67mm compressor with 1.15 ar hotside plus its a ball bearing...the T04Z will have much more top end power then the 35r, many use the 35 because its a good balence between spool up time (lag) and top end. however with the ball bearing T04Z and the turblown setup i think ill forget what lag even is even with the large hotside... elliot can probably give some more info for you

Rob x-7 05-05-2009 04:04 PM

600hp in a fc sounds retarded!

I want a pump gas no thinking about it when I hit the gas pedal set up, actually I was hoping to already be on E85 but I have run out of time and ambition to do anything else to the car this year, so next winter I suppose.

13bturbofc 05-05-2009 06:47 PM

you should do some reading of some of the meth injection setup threads over on rx7club. and on coolingmist website.. coolingmist and some other places make new controllers that are (fail safe) they have triggers that will cut boost, pull timing, cut ignition ect ect if the system dosent pump for some reason..this way you dont have to worry about anything happening to your motor if the system fails..its awesome..

1Revvin7 05-11-2009 07:09 PM

Everything has left to be coated..

13bturbofc 05-11-2009 08:50 PM

wow man that looks amazing

13bturbofc 05-11-2009 09:46 PM

hey elliot for some reason i cant save those pics, can you email them to me?

13bturbofc 05-11-2009 10:00 PM

never mind i figured out how to save them, cant wait to get this stuff on the car!!!

13bturbofc 05-21-2009 07:19 AM

i should be receiving all these parts soon. i just got back a bunch of parts i sent out for polising so heres a pic of the engine bay so far without the new turbo setup..

Rob x-7 07-06-2009 08:00 AM

it was cut off, 450hp @ 1 bar?

1Revvin7 07-06-2009 10:41 PM

380rwhp run was the old hks cast manifold @ 15psi. The 450rwhp run was his new setup @ 18psi with meth injection. He does have a graph for 15psi on the new setup without meth on for a comparison and our turbo kit was worth 35rwhp in addition to the loss of rerouting the wastegate. That alone is usually 15-20rwhp.

The below run does demonstrate the difference in " spool " between the two setups. Keep in mind it would be a lot more if we kept the same turbine a/r( old 380rwhp was .84 new setup has 1.15) However he intends to run 20psi and its much safer with the bigger a/r.

He has some problems with the wastegate spring at the higher rpms and not having a pill in the map sensor line on the microtech; you can see the wavvy lines in the high rpms.

I edited one run out of this dyno graph with MS paint to make things more clear.
