How wide can I go all around? If not the same how wide can I go in the rear?
|
For an 86 Sport with 15x6 wheels? I wouldn't recommend much wider than stock, maybe a 215. Some people have put on 225s, but I wouldn't go that wide. Trying to shoehorn a wider wheel on a narrow rim is not a good idea and will have adverse affects on handling. Unless the sidewall is incredibly stiff, you'll have lots of sidewall flex and rollover.

Im saying not on stock rims. m going to buy a new set but I want something nice and wide. Preferably the same all sround but I want something fat!

215's are good for 7"~7.5" rims. Not 6" rims. I would not suggest anything wider than 195's for those rims. Want wider tires? Get wider wheels. Too expensive? Get a cheaper hobby. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png Yeah, that was a bit harsh. But it's one of my pet peeves. Stick with the stock sizes for the stock wheels. The tire from 198x is nowhere as good as a modern designed tire of the same size.
I have 16x8 rims all around with 225/50's on them. I could have put 245's on them easily but would rather not. The handling is too important to me. I'm just talking about street tires. A good set of R compund Hoosiers for autocross is different. With them, 245's on an 8" rim is just fine. But they're not for the street. With the right setup these sizes will fit without rubbing. 235 up front and 265 in the rear. |
Oh, I see. 8" is the widest you can go with the same size all around. Unless you get the CorkSport wide fromt fenders. Then you'll be able to go with 9" rims all around.
But with the same setup I have, you'll be able to get some great grippy tires. |
I HAVE SAID IT ALREADY I AM BUYING NEW RIMS !!! !! ! ! ! LOL
So 8 inch all around with 245's shouldn't rub then right? The thing is that I want to manuever good but want some nice fat tires you know the RWD machismo ! ! ! ! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif |
it might be a bit hard to find wide 17" rims for a SE.
Not to mention the SE's brakes wont look flattering thorough them Why dont you do a 4piston swap first then get the rims? |

I have 17's on my SE and the brakes look fine I think.. at least they're 4 wheel disc. What I think looks worse is 17's on a car with no drop at all.

wait, if he is putting these on a Sport, then he already has 4 piston brakes...
How much bigger are the discs on the 4 piston vs single piston? |
