if any of you guys are runnign aftermarket rims/tires, what sizes are you using?
i have 17" mazda6 rims all around, but the front 2 are rubbing the springs. the tires are kumho ecsta 711's at 215/50r17. i was wondering if i could get away with running a narrower tire on these rims or do i just need to get 2 different rims and tires for the front, maybe some 16's that are narrower. the springs on the front are supposedly sprint springs, so maybe just getting a different set of springs for the front and i could stay with the same sizes? ps: pics would be great. of the wheels, not of you naked. |
This topic has been beaten to death already you could use thoes rims but you need a small spacer

This topic has been beaten to death already you could use thoes rims but you need a small spacer yea i just remembered the other post about rims, but my main question was will i need different rims, or can i fit narrower tires on mine (how would i find out?) theres already spacers on the hubs. |
shoot man even though this is a beatin topic ill still say the size, 17x8 rims with 225/45r17 in frount and 255/40r17 rear on a stock suspention nothing rubbed, however i am now running JIC Majic FLT-A2 suspention and had to use a .250 spacer in frount as the inside of the tire hit the ride height adjustment lock nut ( not the spring nuts the ride height nut).
215/50r17 tires with a mz6 wheel might be a bad combo as far as offset and tire diamiter. |
well for starters what is the offset of the those mazda 6 rims? also how big is your spacer? that might help us

215/50r17 tire is way way to tall of a tire for the rx7 anyways, the problem is prolly the tire size, i needed to go with 215/45s with the stock suspention on my 17x8s or it the tire would rub the underside of the spring perch. i would go with a 225/45 or a 215/45. the 225/45r17 is within a 1/4 of an inch of the stock 15" tire overall diamiter. do a serch i posted along time ago on tire sizes and the over all dia of each tire size in various rim widths and side wall size.
205/60r15= 24.685 215/50r17= 25.464 225/45r17= 24.972 215/45r17= 24.618 see how the 215/50 tire is almost an inch larger then the stock dia tire. hope this helps and i got a hole list of tire sizes from 215/40r17 all the way up to 315/30r19 that i worked the math on when i was bored. if i listed it would someone pin the info so people have a place to look at the info instead of beating a already beaten subject? |

This helps. I run a 245-40-17 and a 245-45-17. Rolled the fenders and thats about it. |

They are fitted with 215/50/17 tires. i brought my mm ruler home from work and it looks like the spacer on there is about 8mm wide. i saw some 15mm spacers on ebay, would that be an option? |
