I have an '87 TII and I broke the clutch fork so I have not been able to drive it lately. I have a S5 turbo that is fried and smokes badly whenever I sit at a stoplight. I decided to let it sit until I could sell one of my other cars because I have been pieceing a TO4 swap together. I let it sit for like a month and a half and she started right up and ran fine except for the smoking turbo. I revved her up a bit and let her idle for about 4 mins. She didnt get a chance to warm all the way before being shut off because of an idiot friend. I let it sit a couple of days and now I cant get it started. I figure it is just flooded, so I do the fuse trick a couple of times and I still cant get it started. I get pissed off and wait a week, still cant get it started. I spent 30 mins. trying to de-flood it before I relize that it is probably not getting any fire. It just cranks and does'nt try to begin to fire up. What do you think happened after I shut the car off that day??? Help please!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif I love my car so much that I have put all my other Rx7s and my 240sx up for sale to fix her.

First try new plugs. Thats the first thing I do when it gets harder to start. Why your car is smoking could be from alot of things, but its probably unburned fuel smoking away.... get some plugs

I'll go get some more plugs today. The plugs that are in it are pretty new but the car has flooded since then. I would still think even with fouled plugs that I should get at least some fire. I noticed it making a click sound about every 7 seconds and the lights dimming when it clicks, while I try to start it. The starter is turning the flywheel but is it possible it is not turning fast enough? The only thing I can relate that clicking sound to would be the starter sylinoid. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

If it sounds like a sewing machine when your turning it over eg spinning faster than normal and no fire, it's probably lost it's compression due to the amount of fuel. Try cleaning chambers out. Remove plugs and egi fuse and crank it over. Put a small amout of atf/or other fluid you might like into the chambers. Give it a few short cranks, install plugs and fuse and give it a go.

Thanks, I'll try that in the morning if the rain will let up for a few minutes.

I tried that today and still, nothing. It just is'nt getting any fire. My FB is doing the exact same thing. Does anybody know what my problem might be? Perhaps a relay of some sort?? It's getting plenty of fuel, the ignition is just not igniting. Help!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

Another variable in the "hard to start" problem is the cranking RPM.

The battery, cables & starter must be really strong to start a high mileage or low compression wankel.

When doing the unflood procedure, run jumper cables to another car to get maximum cranking RPM's.

The battery that I have in it is going bad, so thats what I have been doing. It has worked fine before so I dont think it is the battery that keeping it from being able to start.
