Whats up guys. Ok so Im kinda new to the Rotary thing. I just got an 86 RX7, its NA https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png but Im planning on putting a turbo motor in later.

Ok so my first question is, is a S5 Turbo II trans just as good as an FD trans? If not whats the benifits of the FD trans besides probley more horse power capacity.

My second question is, I wanna use those high horse power axles they make and a Turbo II rear end. So can I just change the carrier or do I have to change the whole center section/rear end housing. What I mean is does a Turbo II carrier bolt into a NA housing. Also if I use the axles made for the Turbo car do I have to change the knuckles too. I know the axles reuse the old CV joints so I was wondering if the CV joints on the NA cars and the Turbo cars are the same.

Thanks in advance for the help guys.

The transmissions are basically the same between turbo IIs and FDs except the S4 T2 has a higher 5th gear.

You need the whole rear end I believe because the T2s rear is pretty big compared to the NA. The axles should fit in the hubs so you shouldnt need to change the knuckles.

Just use a TII tranny they are good for over 500hp you wont brake it. To do the rear end swap you need the rear end pumpkin and half shafts thats it!

I am pushing 270hp on my N/A rear end with TII tranny.

The FD tranny uses different mounts and will require custom fabrication and is a waste fo time. Why does evryone have this notion that it is so much bettor??

Thanks for the help guys. Now the only problem is finding the parts, hahaha. I live in Hawaii and Turbo II's are a rare find in the junk yard. Does anyone know a good place to order the drivetrain parts? I dont mind paying shipping, I just wanna get it done.
