Hey guys

I have an aussie 1986 s4 turbo with an s5 engine that has just been rebuilt (mostly replaced) and turbo ported. The internals are s5/s6 (apex springs, seals etc). It runs standard boost through a changeover turbo with t4 front housing, impeller etc. The exhaust system is a custom stainless 3" with a 4 1/2" hi-flow catalytic converter and 2 custom mufflers, and it uses a s5 fuel pump and external electric pump.

The problem is apart from being hell loud and going like a shower of ****, the throttle response is a little slow for some reason and i have it seems a little sluggish below 2500rpm. I know that rotaries arent that great at low rmp but surely i should just be able to blip the throttle a bit and dump the clutch. Anyway any help would be appreciated! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

removing your secondary butterfly valves will increase throttle response some, changin to a lightweight aluminum flywheel will improve it a LOT, however, in niether case will you be able to "blip the throttle and dump the clutch" that sort of thing is for V8's with monster low end torque, face it, you drive a rotary, it may be fast, but it is the original torqueless wonder.

there is a mechanism on the throttle that can have a negative impact on throttle response.

It's eliminated by doing the famous 'TB mod'... you can also improve responsiveness and overall performance by porting the TB and intake parts, port matching the intake parts is also helpful.

is your turbo laggy? maybe an upgrade is in order, ball bearing turbo time?
