What is the potential gain vs. loss of modifying the throttle body inlets specifically the secondary inlets? I have read a lot on this forum of how to do it but not much said about what can be gained or lost. A place in Garland Texas sells a throttle body with the secondary inlets enlarged. They leave the primaries alone. They say it helps lower pressure drop and increase flow. Will you see a major difference performance worth the $499 dollars for this item? They will give you back $200 for you stock TB.

There is no way you should pay $300 for a TB... I understand its fully bored with new plates and everything but it likely won't give you much over just removing your secondary throttle plates and doing a mild port/polish of the bores. I dont have mine installed yet but most people notice a slight increase in top end power and noticeable increase in throttle response throughout the RPM range.

I thought it was kind of pricey but this place is usually expensive.

Thanks for the information.

something like that will always be expensive, when it's a modified stock piece that requires alot of time spent in manual labor to finish.

if you consier the hassle of porting the tb yourself, dealing with aluminum dust for a few hours, $300 starts to sound like it's not too bad.

my arms still itch whenever I put on the shirt I wore when I did mine, a few people have asked me to port theirs, I havent done anyone elses yet, without even considering prices... it's just such a pain, and even with the mask some aluminum filings manage to get past it, or in your eyes, all over your clothes, into your skin... that **** is toxic and has been linked ot mental issues like memory loss.

damn, that explains why I am the way I am https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png

I just used a dremel tool first with a flapper wheel bit 80 grit, then 120 round cylinder type sanding bit, then finer and finer... and finished with polishing bits and compound. It takes me about 3 hours... the initial mods, tapping and plugs take like 15 minutes. I dont think I went as hog wild as you Pengaru.

well 3 hours = $300

I know i'll get some better Throttle Response. but as far as acctually HP numbers. will i see some? and where in the powerband will they be?

i think that its a matter of throttle response and maybe 2-5hp?

Yea...most likely 2 to 5 and in the upper range...your lower pull won't be affected as much...you'll enjoy the throttle response at a lower rpm more then an hp gain...

BDC does it for $130... and is in texas too. I have one from him
