ok i finally got my rx7 and i am looking to get it running a big stronger, the motor is rebuilt and it has 8k on it since the rebuild. it is street ported (so he says) but he gave me the papers for the rebuild. now what i was thinking was getting an hks manifold with an external waste gate and maybe a to4 because i am tring to get at least 300 to 325 hp to the wheels, and maybe like 12 seconds, any advise? the car has an intake hks bov and a custom turbo back exhaust. i was told that the external wastegate is the way to go it helps get rid of boost creep, i got 720 injectors and i am getting my ecu done with the rtec 1.7 setup so if anyone has anything to add let me know thanks guys!

Have you run the car down the track yet? First off I'd say see where the car sits in the 1/4 mile to see how much work you need to get the 12's that you want.

Same goes for the hp, dyno the car, see where your at...and build from there. You may be low 13s and only need to run an upgrade turbo on the stock manifold which would save a lot of $$ and time over switching to a TO4 setup. 300-325 is possible on a stock manifold and wastegate setup...just be sure to port the stock wastegate. I've seen a guy make 298whp on a stock turbo and manifold..it was just amazing,lol..

298 on stock stuff that sounds good to me! i have not ran the track yet because i am scared to death of the fuel cut off. i am going to put in the injectors and get the ecu chipped then maybe i will run the track but i think 300 hp is a good goal to reach for an fc right?

300 is really optomistic, you'll be running 15-17 psi, and your turbo isn't going to be too happy for too long like that.

Stock turbo starts losing efficiency around 13-14 psi und will surge and cause all kinds of nasty problems. Stock twins on an FD rarely see 300 whp so I am a little curious how someone made 300 on an FC. I could see that much out of an upgraded FC turbo, I know Majestic turbo offers an upgrade/rebuild that runs I think close to $400. They take the stock comp. housing and machine it out to put a bigger comp. wheel in. I think they can also modify your stock W/G.

I never said stock T2, just stock turbo and manifold.. he ran 12psi, large sp engine, standalone and was a hell of a tuner... stock turbo/manifold can produce that much power as long as the rest of the parts are built around it..

Also, stock FD twins can make over 300whp.. there are a bunch of guys w/ way more than 300whp using their stock twins. Granted they are running them non-sequentially, have ported motors and piggybacks or standalones, but 300+whp on stock FD twins is not that uncommon...

Here is a dyno of stock twins making 368whp, forum member neoamd

another guy neit_jnf made 315whp on stock twins as well...there are ton more people, but I just wanted to do a quick grab just for references. I'll see if I can dig up dynos of the stock T2 turbo making 290+whp
