The car looks to be in decent shape, bad paint but all fenders are strait, 80,000 mi on it. I have not gotten a chance to drive it yet though talking to the guy on the phone he said that it runs fine still, but registers no boost pressure. What are some things that i can check to see if it is the turbo itself or something else? Also how much would it be worth in this condition? I have done a lot of searching, but have not been able to find much to do with stock turbos dying. I have found how to check the BOV, and shaft play is there anything else I can do, should I stay away from this car, have no experience with turbo's?

Blown turbos usually still make boost, and unfortunately lots of smoke. It sounds like it could be a boost sensor. The ECU need it to run properly and to display boost on the gauge.

From your description, id say its worth about 2-3k

If the body and interior are pretty nice, I'd consider it--assuming the engine starts and idles well. Only 80k miles is crazy low for a car that old. No boost could be a leak in the intake plumbing, or the turbo could be spent. It's easy enough to replace the turbo, or pull the old one and have it rebuilt.

I concur with the 2-3k price range, probably more towards the 2k end, since it has issues.

well going to buy it today, hopfully, took it for a ride, idled good, sounded like a bit of a miss when it started up cold and was idling gunna have to check into that, turbo sounds fine could hear it spool up didn't noctice any excessive smoke so its probably bad pluming or the waste gate stuck open, the only other thing that I noticed was a clicking sound when turning right but hopfully its nothing too big, should be a good car. Thanks for the help
