Howdy, y'all; I owned an '81 GS for 8 years, until it was totalled by my youngest brother (not his fault) by which time it had 225K on the odometer. I miss that car, even with its minor warts, and have thought about buying another. I recently viewed an '89 GTU in mediocre condition (dents, larger tires in rear, 115K, ad hoc alarm and stereo wiring, cracked fr. windshield, etc.), but the car is owned by a mechanic, and seems to run well. It has a sunroof, original paint, and really needs some TLC. Asking price is $2300. I'd thought about offering around $1500, but I'm more concerned about parts availability. Parts for my other Mazda product ('89 Ford Probe) are mostly discontinued, and I'm wondering if I'd have the same problem with an '89 GTU.

Thanx in advance for your advice.

Well, a lot of parts are still available for RX-7s. The few times I've needed parts, the dealer either had them in stock or would get them for me with their next stock arrival.

There's also Mazdatrix, they sell just about anything you might need mechanically and a lot of interior pieces that are hard to find.

Basically, I don't think finding parts for an 89 would be a problem at all.

just like the other two I agree, parts are easy to find, exspecially on the internet, www.mazdatrix.com www.rx7.com (more performance though) and wherever else...

You can always find used parts at Mazda Recycling and The Parts Trader too.

yea i cant think of ANY part you cant get for this car. in the condition you say its in, i wouldnt pay 2300....1500 yes, but not even 2000 probably. I bought my 1988 GXL 2 years ago for $2500 with original paint, never crashed, paint in good condition, no rust (showed up a year later, tiny little spot on the sunroof) with about 87k miles on it. i mean it was sweet..=) still happy with my h0e
