I am at work and not looking at manual.

my cleaned set of injectors came in and I may try to replace tonight.

Is there anything that I will need outside the tools,Haynes manual and the cleaned injectors?

If I am going to need anything else I need to know before I rip things apart otherwise I can start it because I need the car to run to go to work in the morning.

any other advice also welcome.

youll want to replace the o rings and grommets while youre there.

Be very very very very very very careful when pulling the c-clip off. With most fc's the injector plugs are very brittle and will crack.

Might want a UIM to LIM gasket, since you'll be pulling the UIM.

Yeah, it might also be a good time to check and replace the rubber lined under the intake manifold, like the vacuum hoses, fuel lines, and that coolant hose on the rear iron that goes to the TB. Unless theyre in almost new condition, Id highly recommend replacing them, especially considering your car problems.

BTW, when was the last time your fuel filter was changed? You were talkign about your car problems in another thread, and you really should start your troubleshooting with a full tune-up.

gentlejax2 04-06-2005 10:00 PM

fuel filter hasnt been changed yet. most everything else has except the injectors.

car runs real strong so I dont think motor is done yet.maybe it is , maybe it isnt. I will change the filter out soon.

car is not going to be around for long so I am not spending lot of time with it lately.

working on something else. maybe getting out of rotaries altogether.

love them but hate them too...like most of us...

i found a kit from borg warner at oreilly here. you can probably find this anywhere. the kit has all the stuff to do all injectors and it only like 7 bucks. just make sure they order you the right one bc they didnt for me and it sucked

A good injector shop will supply the O-rings & insulators.

I keep a few spares in case one leaks.

Make sure the fuel rail pocket has no stuck on bits of the old O-ring.

Put a dab of oil on the O-ring when you insert the injector so you don't scratch the new seal.

fsm says to use gas to lube it

Holy sheet! my local Mazda dealer wanted to charge me almost $200 for the "air Bleed" things that I may or may not need.....parts guy didnt know either.

anyhow, I skipped them and just ordered the UIM gasket.

My injectors came with new O'rings, filters, and pintles. I think that is the correct name for the stuff.

they are complete and ready to go.

what I needed to know about was any of the other stuff I might need like the UIM gasket.

thanks and wish me luck!

Mike
