I'm just wondering if anyone has done it before, I'm cheap/broke so I'm going to get a radiator/electric fan out of a newer Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable and put it in my supra7. It will work for the 7MGTE because of were the inlet/outlet for the engine are, but I don't know if it will work for the RX-7 since it is a cross flow. So you would have to have some crazy cooling hoses.
I just want to see if anyone has done this, because it seems like it would be an affordable (like 50-75 bucks) cooling system upgrade for the 7, since the taurus/sable's fans are shrouded, and they are meant to cool like 3.0-4.0 liter V6's. And the dimensions are like 25-15 so it fitts nice and tight were the stock radiator went. Anyways, anyone done it??? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png |
if its out of the 3.8L 6-cyl then its relatively a good cooler. i know the fan is crazy on the high-speed setting.

i think the extent of the mod is to use the fan, not the radiator

im using the same fan now.. from a ford taurus.. dont know what year it was though. but it really keeps my **** really cool.
go ahead and do the mod.. you wont be disappointed. |
im pretty sure there was a thread about this. im also pretty sure that somone said that it uses to many volts or power for the battery and will drain it pretty quick. again it was a while back so forgive me if im wrong and if my electricity lingo isnt the best.

and ur electric system is fine? if it is i think im gonna try that. so it's only the fan part??? would neone have a write up of what custom work to do if any. and is the mod that much better than the stock unit, i never understood wat an electric fan has over the pulley one https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif
i personally went to electrical fan because i want the fan on at all times, it clears the engine bay out so that i can practically stand in it, it looks nice, and well that minimal gain of hp was oh so important lol. anyway hooking up a e-fan is rather simple depending on your methods. i ran mine to an empty but powered fuse location, put a fuse in, ran it to a switch, and grounded it. bam e-fan on. kevin. |
Yeah, and that extra room is what I need, since my main pully on the 7M is were the stock RX-7 radiator sits https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
