just wondering why roadracers and AutoX'ers somtimes put tape across their lights. is it because the lights comes loose under hard driving?

I think it's because debris on the track your on may damage your lenses causing them to shatter. The tape keeps then all together, so you don't have to clean up the track, or get new lenses.
|
i thought it was so you have less drag

it is the mysterious vinyl effect, ricers have been using it for years to make their car faster, basically, the more vinyl on the outside of the car, the faster it will go. some kind of drag thing I think.

Nope it for the lenses! It has nothing to do with rice.
I've never seen this is autoX, but where ever you light aren't need (For lighting) they get taped! |

I'm a member of the local light car club and by CAMS regulations (Confederation of Australian Motorsports) we have to put clear (or whatever) vinyl over the headlights when we're competing so that in case of collision, there are no little pieces of glass left on the track surface. I've officialled for events and seen the debris left after only a light collision between a mini and an embankment, so i reckon all the bits in the front of an fc would make great tyre poppers.

My uncle uses it atthe salf flats with his buddies, last time when they were doing 200Mph+ little rocks were braking everything.

Under race applications putting tape over all the creases on the front end of a car will reduce drag. But covering openings for like a rad will make the car slightly faster (in excess of 160mph..), it will also make it way hotter.
