I am trying to get my 90 started, if it is flooded, is there a difference in the unflooding procedures between the s4-my 88, and the s5-my 90? In the pic, you can see that on the left is the s4 fuse cover, I know to pull the "inj" fuse so that I can crank the engine without injecting more fuel. Now look at the right cover, which fuse am I supposed to pull so that I can unflood my car?

i forgot

The "EGI" fuse diables the starter relay, so.............I'm lost.

just take all of them out

pull the EGI COMP (well EGI for you I guess), then floor the gas and clutch and crank it for 15 seconds... that should work

on an S5 you can just floor the gas pedal and it'll cut the injectors. Just crank for 10 - 15 sec let your starter cool a bit and try to start again.
|
make sure you have another car and some jumper cables
|
I worked on it most of the afternoon, the car just will not fire. I guess I will try to pull start it tommorrow. I did make several phone calls today and I think that I may have found a reliable mechanic in my area. He buys, sells, and works on 7s, so maybe I will take it to him next week, if nothing else. But what sucks, I take pride in the work that I do, and I hate not being able to figure out a problem. Thanks, we newbies appreciate the help we get from you more experienced 7 owners.

how many times did u do the procedure? if its really flooded it may take many many tries to get it started...like 7,8,9,10, etc...
|
i just unflooded a FD yesterday. i cranked it 5 times for 30 seconds with the EGI fuse removed. it started up and ran fine afterwards
|
Have you tried pulling your plugs and cleaning them off? While they are out pull the EGI fuse and crank it for 10 - 15 sec. then wait a min or two and do it again. Put the cleaned plugs back in, and try it. That worked well on my AE when it was super flooded.
|
excellent point.. if it's that flooded the plugs are probably doused in fuel...
while you have the plugs out. make sure you have spark... hey you never know.. if push starting it doesn't make it run i'm guessing you have more problems then just flooded motor. |
