my tails have the funk going on.
im trying to figure out how to rid of it. it looks like wax on it but its not. maybe some kind of plastic buffing compound or something could get it out? any ideas? wheres rob the detailing master? https://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y2...r/dsc00038.jpg |

you can stop putting my picture all over the place now, the humor has worn off |
try a little maguire's coarse cut if you have it, on a buffer with a polishing pad if you have one. put some masking tape on the bodywork just in case and keep the speed slow, under 1000 rpm will be plenty fast. If you dont see any results in a few quick passes you might have to take it to the next step and get a little painting going on.

I have the same 'funk' going on...polishing/waxing might work because when it's wet you can't notice it.

looks like cracking plastic and baked wax to me..
if you paint it, krylon fusion. mine looked similar, minus the smear look of whatever that is. scuffed them with about 600 grit and sprayed several light/medium coats of fusion, they look great. buffing them quite thoroughly (as 89 rag said) might do the trick for the scratches, if they arent too deep. |
the scratches dont bother me so much as the giant white smears
looked like somebody buffer waxed it over the lights a bit and left it. |
I would consider painting them.

^ Ditto, You can't really get rid of the crap on the taillights. Most of the time it's just the material fading. Your best bet is just to repaint them.

Rub vaseline on them. No, that's not a joke.

Rub vaseline on them. No, that's not a joke. I believe using petroleum jelly will not work, and if it does it won't last. |
