Direct 12v setup from the trailing size? Anyone know?
I might be running a 12A dizzy and coil, so I am curious if I can set up the tach signal the same way as the FB.. But I'm not sure if it's 12v or like 5v or something. Thanks! |
the 12a is like any car with a dizzy, its just a wire on the coil (i dont know if its positive or negative side). should work with the fc just fine

I figured as much but I wasn't sure.. Thanks..
Since I would be going from the stock FC coil setup to the dizzy, should I do a mod like this (from Jeff20B's site)?: http://www.geocities.com/cd23c/dlidfis.html I don't want to come out of this with a weaker spark, and I know the FC ignition system is pretty strong from the production line.. |
This wasn't something I had anticipated but it's going to get my car running for Rotorfest, so I'll do it. I don't know what I will end up setting up on the car but for now I don't want to worry about making the MS fuel controller work with factory spark. Turned out it's a little bit more complicated than I had originally anticipated.
The guy who talked me into running the fuel setup also talked me into running the dizzy for a little while until I get something else in order. |
yeah dizzy is fine. jeffs mod is good too!

How much stronger is the FC factory ECU controlled ingnition over a stock dizzy setup?
I don't know if my dizzy is from a 12A or 13B anymore. I saw this video and I don't know if the GSL-SEs had a dizzy or a few early FC3S? This just threw me a huge curve ball. Just watch the shot of the engine bay. http://www.sleepy-fish.com/sleepy/Top_Gear...vs_924_1985.avi I am just curious if I convert to a stock FB style ingition system if I will have to worry about weak spark or anything in comparison to the factory system. This isn't a permanent setup, but if possibly I want to drop the ignition in as-is, to run it for a bit (likely to rotorfest). I don't know if I have the time to get Jeff's mod in order.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif |

Oh yeah and should I use vacuum advance or not?
|
Yes, use the vacuum advance
