I have two motors with bad second rotor compresion. How hard/expensive would it be to swap the front rotor/housing ass. to the rear of the other? Is this possible? will it work of short term fix?
thanks |
you cant swap the rotors without pulling the motor apart. So if you have it apart, you might as well spend the 300-400 bucks freshening it up with new seals, oil control rings and coolant o-rings.

Well you might run into some problems piecing them together. If you look at the housings they are stamped "F" for front and "R" for rear. I don't know really what the difference is, for the most part they look the same. Also the rotors between the engines may not match, i.e. different weight. They are stamped with a letter on the face of the rotor so the only way to tell what you have is to open up the engines. You would want ones that were the same letter or one off I believe, the former being the better.

where can I get an inexpenceive rebuild kit, and if the engines are the same year will they have differant ballances?
thanks |
the engines for the same year series are all balanced the same, ie 86-88 all balance out, 89-02 all balance out. the rotors interchange front and rear. the rotor housings have different emissions passages front and rear.
