I know that I need the fuel rails, an 89 BAC valve, and that is all I can think of. On this website ( http://homepage.mac.com/carldavis/intake.html ), the guy does a pretty good write up on how to do things. My question is, he says to block off the EGR valve, I do not think that I can do that were I live, so I was wondering if I could swap a S5 EGR on to it so that it will pass? Thanks for the help, and if you know anything else that would be important, please post it. Thanks again.

The S5's don't have an EGR valve. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I am doing the swap too and when I set the S5 vacum nest and fuel rails on the engine I realized there was no way to get an EGR on whith one leg of the nest going right over the EGR hole. I still had to ask about it though.

I don't think you'll need the S5 BAC valve. The S4 one lines up perfectly on the S5 manifold and the air inlet pipe can be adjusted. On the back of the valve there is a torx T20 head screw holding the pipe in place. I was able to loosen it, and with a couple gentle taps with a rubber mallet got it to move. Then all you need to do is use a crescent wrench to turn it in the proper direction.

I'm going to try to use the S5 throtle body by makeing some studs to mount the S4 TPS and transfering the necessary pieces to control the OMP.

Hope that helps.

Now my question is, Will I pass emissions without an EGR valve? I need to pass!

Converting to the s5 requirs grinding of the rear plate, just a little though.

I read that S5 manifold swap write-up. It was pretty good like you said; although, I do think he made a mistake in JB welding the port air opening. The port air is introduced into the exhaust manifold to begin the emissions control process. Eliminating it would be compromising the secondary air injection system, which is the most effective at lowering emissions.

I would try to retain it either by milling some groves in the LIM out to where port air ports are on the S4 housings, or by milling out the intermediate housing where the LIM port air port is. Because Mazda eliminated the EGR valve, they where now able to simplify the split air runners by simply tapping into the ERG passageway.

I wouldn't be too concerned about not having EGR, but I would be concerned about not having the port air working.
