Hi all, the sunroof on my 7 doesn't go up by himself. I have to push it with my hand to get up. After he get up i only have to push the button to slide it to the rear ?
do you have any idea want is the problem ? where to find website that explain how to fix that problem ? thanx |
If its any consolation, my sunroof does the same thing. I think the motor is tired. Or maybe the mechanism needs some lube. Do I care? Not! :P
thats pretty normal, you can help it out though.
open the sunroof, and clean the tracks (they are silver colored) and lightly lubricate them with a light grease that wont dry up (i'm still experimenting) next close the sunroof, and pop it up. there are some more things that need to be lubed. after that mine works about 50% of the time with no hands. there is a next step but i'm not near my car, bump the thread up if #1 doesn't work mike |
Mine has quit alltogether, the drivers side screw mechanism is no longer moving, I suspect the motor, bu tnot sure yet.
The motors are well known for getting tired.... as suggested, give it a clean and lube.... u could put another motor in if it really bothers you... but its a pain in the @$$... i've currently got my hood lining out so i can access it easily.

I've had 5 coupes, and only one ever worked without being pushed up. It still works fine to this day. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Yeah, mine does the same damned thing, and I'm getting a little pissed off at it. I mean, the car is like new with so few miles on it, so I figured that the sunroof would act like new as well.

mike[/quote] Man, now that's just cold. :o |
I never had a problem in my 86 GXL, it always popped right up and then slid back. I have to push the one up on my 88 though, but it retracts pretty good.
Yeah, i've got the same prob, Im going to clean it all out and re-grease the lot, hopefully that will help https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

i use the emergency handle....works great...welcome to the club
I thnig I don't have this emergency handle... where he is suppose to be ??
mine was in the owners manual pocket.....its a hex key and the hole is under that round thing on the ceiling of the car....
yeah... this is what i thought ... no owners manual :(
just look at the form of the hole, you can get those keys anywhere, i even think a 17mm socket would work
open roof half way, pop the liner off, just pull it down, close roof again. lossen the 6 nuts that hold the sunroof down then retighten now that the roof will be centered in the hole. it'll probbaly help alot.
the rooftop is centered !!??
