Okay, both engine and tranny are coming out of the parts car and the car is going bye-bye. Do I pull them as a unit or separately? Any pointers?

i have always done it together, much easier in my opinion. but having a leving devise is nice and handy, i've had to get it almost vertical, and when reinstalling the motor, if you are by yourself it's way easier.

good luck it's really not that hard.

Together. Much easier. Take out the radiator. I almost smashed mine one time.

So together it is. The radiator is already out. I'm guessing I need to drain the tranny oil?

yeah if you're getting rid of the car pull em both together. the other way to do it would be to unbolt the subframe and lift the body away...

That is a real pain in the ass though. Well, very time consuming.

I've heard that method works okay with old ACVW's. Just drop the motor on the ground, then pick up the rear bumper and walk the car off the motor.

Unless you have access to a grad-all or forklift, yeah, pull 'em together from the top.

I got the engine and transaxle out of a 914 with a forklift and a torch, good times!
