Don't stress about it.

Don't you get to select the grade of gas by yourself?

Where are you filling up at?

jwteknix 06-17-2006 11:06 AM

Apex13B 06-17-2006 11:28 AM

i believe you are the guy that bought my friends motor on long island.

you need real octane booster, and dont drive it hard also

KarynKathryn 06-17-2006 12:06 PM

jwteknix 06-17-2006 03:17 PM

i did buy ur friends engine cant wait to put it in, its just sitting in kevins garage for the time being . but i didnt no about oregon thought it was just jersey being stingey with there gas. ive been trying not to drive it b/c one one my outer tierod ends is mad fucked up i dont need the tire folding on me while driving could cause more damage then i need at the moment. i just change the whole steering knuckle assembly on the passenger side. and by definition wut exactly is "real octane booster"

Not to sound too stupid, but what's Toulene?

To be on the safe side, just drive like a little old lady until you use that tank up.

It's spelled "toluene".

n.

A colorless flammable liquid, CH3C6H5, obtained from coal tar or petroleum and used in aviation fuel and other high-octane fuels, in dyestuffs, explosives, and as a solvent for gums and lacquers. Also called methylbenzene.

Basically it's paint thinner with the neat side effect of raising octane levels.

Stock TII's are designed to still run on 87 it wont hurt a damn. A little more boost wont matter to much it just mainly depends on your temps if the fuel is detonating. If the motor starts knocking stop pushing it that hard. 20 bux wont last very long anyhow.

I would urge a bit more caution than that. By the time you're aware of detonation, you may have already toasted your engine. Not sure of his mod list, but any weakness in the fuel system of a car nearly 20 years old will just make the likelihood of having a problem that much worse.

Not that there's any real similarity between the two cars, but I've daily driven a Volvo turbo that "recommends" (not "requires") premium fuel on regular gas and it will ping like crazy if I run it hard. On premium, it runs sweet on full boost to redline.

Of course by now, he's surely used that tankful up. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif
