well...I got my 86 running...not idling worth a damn though. Im thinking its a secondary injector thats gunked up, but Im not sure.

so, heres what Im thinking...if I drop in another set of 550cc injectors, Ill be out about $220 if I can find em for $90 and Ill be able to put a little work into getting her moving again, OR, I can get the CAMDEN EFI kit for @$2800 that comes with new injectors, fuel rail, etc etc etc. and be done unnder the hood until I can get a piggyback.

what should I do??? bandaid, or full fix?

Im eventually going to get that s/c kit cause I want her to out-walk some peeps...lol

can someone give me some pointers and direct me to some cheap brand-name parts?

you know...injectors, clutch disc, master/slave cyl, brake master cyl...anything I might need after 11 years sitting in a yard, you know.

thanks in advance for the help!!!

If you're sure it's the injectors and you can be without the car for a while, pull all 4 injectors and send them out for cleaning/testing. Marren fuel injection (injector.com) and RC Engineering (rceng.com) both offer injector service for a reasonable fee and can turn them around in about a week. They will clean and flow test them and you will get them back in good-as-new condition.

One more thing: If it's not idling correctly, it's not the fault of a secondary injector, since that injector will only be adding fuel above 3500 rpms. Check engine compression, check ignition, plug wires, plugs, and check for vacuum leaks.

I wouldn't put an aftermarket EFI on the car. The stock Mazda fuel system works well and will support some mods.

yea i'd compression test first. the secondary injectors are off (or supposed to be!) at any speed under 3500rpms

Take those 550's out, and put the proper 460's in. Youre dumping way too much fuel for the car to run right.

If your only problem is an idle issue, there are a few things that could be the problem, most of which are simple/cheap to fix.

well, alrighty then. lol

Ill be sending them off to be cleaned up pretty soon here...they need it, Im sure.

after they get back, Ill try to test the compression...*knock on wood* if that goes well, and I still dont have a good idle, out comes the ratnest...I might have a little leak in it...but I cant tell with the erratic idle.

well, thanks again for the help people!
