Im doing the brakes on the rear and cant get the rotor off. I broke a sledge trying to get it to pop off. I dont have a bolt to stick in there to tighten down but seeing as how the whole sledge went im not sure that would work either. Anyone have another thought on this?

phinsup 01-20-2006 11:53 AM

did u remove the screws?

One320B 01-20-2006 12:22 PM

The bolt actually works really well since it puts pressure on the right places to pop it free

you can also get leverage on a bolt that you wont get w/ a hammer...

Seppuku 01-20-2006 12:40 PM

the screws are out i guess ill have to try and find a bolt. Now if i had a car to go and get one id be ok.

Seppuku 01-20-2006 12:49 PM

what thread pitch should the bolt be or can i "borrow" one from some where else just to get this off?

One320B 01-20-2006 01:42 PM

i dont remember exactly, M12 i believe...dont remember the pitch though... 1.75 maybe?? It's been a while....

Ive beaten the **** out of it all around wont budge in the slightest bit im tired and giving up for now.

Baldy 01-20-2006 03:33 PM

The screws you removed should fit into that other hole to pop them off, if I recall.

Seppuku 01-20-2006 04:22 PM

I had to drill the screws out, thats the only problem with that.

damn you guys are weak. since youre giving up just go spray around where the hub sticks through the rotor with wd40 and let it soak over night. then tomorrow spray some more on and the front face of the rotor hat, then after hitting it a good number of times move onto hitting the actually braking surface of the rotor.

if you have a nice 3lb sledge you should break the rotor in half before you break the sledge (ive done this, certain fords have impossible to remove rotors) but chances are the rotor will pop off.

also you sure you got the whole screw out and some little piece isnt holding it on?
