whats the stock turbo size for a TII? does it change from the S4 to S5?

fc3sboy1 05-17-2005 08:22 PM

yes the s5 is bigger then the s4 by a little bit. also the s4 uses a twinscroll and the s5 does not. not totaly sure on the size though

drftk1d 05-18-2005 02:45 AM

They are the same sized turbo, just better flowing manifold and bigger wastegate hole(s).

The reason why the the S5 makes 18 more HP is mainly due to the boost increase.

Not true. S5 are NON twin-scroll. Mazda went with a fully divided manifold for S5

This is proably in the FAQ, but they are Hitachi HT-18's. Not sure what other turbo it's equivalent to, but its between a T3/T4.

The size doesn't. Manifold, wastegate does.

oops. sorry for giving wrong info.

the s5 has two holes for the wastegate right

BoneT2&Harmony 05-19-2005 04:24 AM

The S5 has 2 wastegate holes. S4 has 1.

But the S4's wastegate can be ported bigger than an S5.

drunkin_idiot 05-19-2005 02:23 PM

Ya im pretty sure the turbos are equivelent to T3's.

teknics 05-19-2005 05:38 PM

the s4 is ht-18, s5 is hx-18.

No they're not. Sorry for not clarifying.

S4= HT-18S

S5= HT-18S 2S

But they are still both HT-18's, the S5 is just a revised version of the S4. Just like the 13bt, and 13b-rew. Same ****, minor differences.

BTW it's equivalent to a small T4, large T3.

On my old computer I had a compressor map for it, not anymore..

The turbine a/r of series 5 is; 0.5
