That's an interesting article, and I'm curious as to why Mazda decided to make the Series 5 Intercooler openings smaller than the Series 4. It seems that the series 4 Intercooler is a superior intercooler to the series 5, but I also doubt that Mazda would purposely have made a inferior intercooler as part of the 88-89 minor change. Can anybody shed any more light on this subject? Thanks

that is not right... that is a j-spec S5 one. it looks tiny. the USDM S5 is bigger then the S4. mine is 2" in 2.25" out. and the 2" in is flared bigger at the IC. that one in the pic isn't.

hmm...intersting.....but then that makes we wonder why would Mazda make a new S5 intercooler just for america. Normally cars seemed to get watered down as they make their ways overseas to america, so it doesn't make sense why they would make a bigger one here than in Japan. I'm not saying that you're wrong, jus curious as to why they would do something like that?

i was thinking they got them backwards? either way the core is the same, so if you are putting 2 of them together it doesn't matter

so is the us spec s5 better than the us spec s4? does either have bigger piping diameter?
