Okay I am doing a restore project on a 86 GXL. I reaaly like the car but I expected it to be faster I have a new air intake that I am going to be installing today. but I was curious about injectors. what are the stock injectors in cc of course and what should I up grade them to I am N/A but havalso thought about putting a factory turbo on I hear that I can do that on this paticular year do to 9.4:1 compression ratio and the 88-91 t2's had only a little less with a 9:1 ratio. of course that will be much later in life and I just want to squueze every bit of power out of this thing first and I have a new exhaust on the way. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

if its n/a there is no reason to go beyond cleaning the stock injectors, the can support 200hp and u have to have serious porting/nitrous oxide to get an n/a anywhere near that.

NA injectors = 460 cc min
Turbo injectors = 550 cc min |
I would work on your exhaust. You can get some decent power increases if you can get your motor to breath better.
There are lo impedance and hi impedance injectors as well as N/A (460cc) and Turbo (550cc) injectors. But something else to consider (which I wasn't aware) The 89-92 injectors Mazda changed the connectors from the square style to an oval style. We need an injector FAQ? 86-87-1/2 87-1/2-88 89-92 |
someone corrcet me if I am wrong but wouldn't putting a turbo onto an N/A remove all the smog equipment and make the car illegal for street use. I know guys in canada but all the somg stuff was removed.
