I put my stock fan and shroud back on the wp pulley after having an efan for the past couple years. I cant tell if the fan is working right or not or if its slipping at high rpm. I have the RB dual belt pulleys with no accessories but I still don't think theres enough contact there to prevent it from slipping. When I rev up the car in neutral, it seems like the fan is not putting out any more air than when its idling.. that makes me think maybe the clutch is shot? Can someone tell me how the thing is supposed to work and sound? I can't remember. I thought I remember with the stock fan when I first start the car it would always make a sound of a big swoosh of air and then settle down.. know what I mean? It doesnt do that now. The fan feels pretty tight on the clutch when turning it by hand.

Can you stop the fan by hand when its ideling? If it doesnt start turning very fast, your clutch is gone out.

I put the dual pulley on mine, and I think I get slippage also.It just doesnt keep the alternator running that good.I am thinking about doing a conversion to a single belt

its thermostatic, so it kinda freewheels until it gets hot. the 1st gen fan turns on at 91c i'm not sure about the fc (prolly similar)

I've test fit a single belt conversion that uses only stock mazda parts, PM me if you're interested.

I didnt stick my hand on it while it was spinning to test it. I was revving the engine up to high rpm with my hand while watching the fan just after driving the car hard... hoping the fan would be spinning extra to cool it more. It wasn't.... but the temp guage never got beyond 1/3 up. It used to get up near 1/2 when I last had this stock fan installed.

Take the stock clutch fan and try to spin it by hand......like hit one of the blades or throw it around and see how freely it turns. It should not even make it a half a round before it stops. If it turns too freely then the clutch is worn out.

yeah, I did that before I put it back in and it felt pretty tight, maybe a half a turn before stopping
