Well, I replaced the fuel pulsation damper, and now I can watch the gas run out below it. It's a constant drip. It looks like it's coming out of a small plastic cap right underneath the intake manifold facing the front. What is this, and is there an easy way to get to it? I've got all kinds of **** in the way. Thanks.

Are u sure u replace the PD, cuz what u just decribed is the PD, a small plastic cap on the primary fuel rail. Get some pixs! A digi cam will be your best friend.

The PD is the small plastic cap under the intake manifold? That's where it's running out. Hmmm, maybe I didn't. The guys at the dealership told me that it was also called the fuel pressure regulator. Did I get screwed?

Well, I got the cap off of it, and there was a screw just lying in the cap with a rubber O-ring on it. There was a hole in the center of the PD, so I screwed it back in there tight. Could that be the leak? I'd like to know before I put it all back together and start it back up again.

Damn thing was a screw that had fallen out of the PD. Screwed it back in, and no more leak. I'm going to hurt someone at the dealership...

That is not fixed.



If you had fuel coming out of the hole, it means your diaphram has broken and is letting fuel get to that hole. The screw backing out and into the cap is only part of the problem.



If you didnt have any fuel leaking out then the diaphram is still in tact and you could have put some thread lock on the screw then put it back in..



but since you had fuel, when the damper moves the screw will slide out and fuel will still be able to leak out of the damper housing.

A good rule is to bring the part down there when you go if you are dealing with a clueless parts clown. Most parts guys arent well paid and probably came over from a auto parts store and only know how to read micro-fishe.

When you find a good parts guy at a dealer he is probably getting paid very well and knows his ****.



And stick to your guns when asking for something

"fuel pulsation damper", you mean fuel regulator, "no I mean fuel pulsation damper". Tell them to bring it up on the micro-fishe.



I think you can update that damper to a S5 one that wont leak.

if you read the fc3s-pro link I supplied, they document the issue very well. Even the S5 version can fail and leak, they provide part #'s for earls banjo fittings to eliminate the pulsation damper but I'm not sure how this effects the operaiton of the fuel system.
