Ok, double checking everything here, does the crank angle sensor need to be in a specific position when starting the first time? Also, what should the timing be at on a large street port engine? anyone know the optimal timing?

You need to line up the yellow mark on the E-shaft pulley with the timing pointer, and stab the CAS in with the little dimple on the bottom gear lined up with the pointer on the shaft housing of the CAS (you'll understand if you look at the CAS).

Easiest thing to do, pull the CAS, pull the black cover off (2 screws)match the dimple on the gear to the mark on the CAS and look at the reluctor wheel inside the CAS through the top. you will see a multi-toothed ring in the bottom, one tooth should be lined up perfectly with a black box in the bottom of the CAS, using a sharpie or other permanent marker color that tooth. With the engine on the yellow mark stab the CAS back in, look at the tooth you marked and see that it is still lined up, if not turn the CAS the appropriate direction to line it up with the black box again. When finished and the car is started and idleing and warmed to operating temperature use a timing light to check the yellow mark to the timing pointer again, adjust as nessecary.

Good luck
