Well after 3 months I finally got my 88 back on the road, had transmission problems, and after one glorious week behind the wheel...BAAAAM hard starting...had to unflood it twice. The car floods after it sets for an hour or two, real hard to start when its warm. When it is cold, overnight, it still gives me fits but starts better. Sounds like a classic case of infectors leaking but supprise... the temp sensor is not working like it should. Gonna put another one in and see if it fixxes the problem. I am hoping it is the injectors cause they are still under warranty, motor only has 10,000 miles on it, so I could get new one free....Luck is not one of my better points.... :dontgetit:

Did you ever get a set of rims? Also what plugs are you using? I know if you use the wrong range plug you could have some hard start problems

No never got the rims, had to buy and rebuild the transmission. There went my stash, figured if I dipped into my daughters college money I would get in trouble....Just replaced the plugs with NGKs same as the old ones...I wish it was that easy....I have to drive my pickup when the Mazda is laid up and I get real bad withdrawal pains.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

Yup sounds like injectors. I think Mazdatrix had the cheap fix for that, although it wasn't ideal will save you from going broke!

The plugs was fresh on my mind being as I just ordered a whole bunch of stuff from Mazda Trix today, and when I asked for plugs, they asked me which ones I wanted, so they told me for a stock engine, to stick with the stock plugs. Thier prices are pretty much the same as the discount I get at my local auto parts store, so I figured why not just get everything from them, wires, plugs, OEM oil filters, K+N filter, etc..

I paid 19.42 for 4 plugs....They were even marked leading and trailing.....I could not screw it up... :tounge:

Yea I have ordered parts from them as well, never had any problems... prices are fair. They have some stuff that you simply can't find anywhere else, so that's when they come in handy!

I have run NGK in all my rotary's and never had any problems.

I think NGK may be ALL you can run in a rotary. I dont think anyone else makes a plug for these engines?

Autolite has plugs that will work, but I never tried them.
