Well, for 2-3 weeks the car was starting and running perfectly.



Eventually i flooded the thing, So i followed the De-flood process, removed the fuses and cranked it for about 10 seconds, everything was fine, plugs are brand new and properly placed.



I put the fuses back in, and tried to turn it over, The starter wouldn't engage i can hear it click, but it wont turn the engine over.



I bought a new battery today, and it still won't turn over, i had to push start it (again)



Now this is where things get weird.. The i can drive the car around, no problems at all, take it home park it, wait 15 minutes and it will start right up again, starter turns the car over no problem, and it runs. However if i wait about an hour or so, the starter won't engage after the engine cools?



I'm wondering if its not getting a full 12v, maybe the alternator is holding its charge so the starter gets a 14 at that time? The battery & wire posts are clean, and i even removed the corrosion on the starter wires too, is it possible that the starter is just dying? The car does have 180k miles on it.. but it was meticulously maintained, single owner. motor was rebuilt about 30k ago too..

It's entirely possible the starter is near dead. I replaced one in my 626 with about 160k on it.

I found a used one on ebay for 35$, hopefully this is the problem, i'll be pissed if its electrical, but i highly doubt that it is

After buying several used starters/alternators, I learned it was best to have a local shop rebuild mine. Never had a problem after that.

If this one off ebay fails i'll probably do that,



The standard "hit it with something" temp. fixed the problem, but it stopped working after driving around for a while.. oh well
