I picked up Russel brake lines for my 4-pot brakes, but I have no idea how they are supposed to connect to the calipers! The "kit" has no fittings. I'm running new tubing anyway, but I'm really confused as to how I'm supposed to go from tubing to the stainless steel lines, to the calipers.



I spent some time at Summit trying to explain to them what I'm doing, but they couldn't find the straight piece I need to make the connection.



The guy helping me out said to use AN fittings, so this is what it looks like:

So that's a 1/8" NPT to a coupler to a tube adapter! Does this seem logical? It just seems like a lot of fittings and sort of overly complicated. The 1/8" NPT fitting doesn't want to go any deeper than a few threads, so I'm thinking there's a better fitting out there for what I want to do, but the guy at Summit seemed to think this was the way to do it.

Any ideas? What should I do about the fitting from the SS line to the caliper? I mean I basically just need a straight I guess...the stock hose fitting fits perfectly into the SS liness, so it's the same thread pitch and diameter.

Has anyone else had similar issues with SS lines? Or did I just buy from the wrong manufacturer? Haha.

the stock caliper has a little section of hard line that ends in a flare fitting, like everyother brake line on the car

i have, there were no problems like you're having, they just went straight on without a fuss

your missing the factory hard-lines that are on the stock brakes, just like J9FD3S said. You need those.

The problem is I don't have an FC, it's an FB and I took the brakes off a GXL at a local junkyard. I have no way to reference the stock FC brake system, so that's why I'm wondering if I'm missing something that's OEM, or maybe Russel is just incompetent and doesn't include all the necessary hardware...



The SS lines I have are female on both ends; the caliper accepts a male connection. So, is there some fitting that's on the stock calipers that for some reason I didn't get? Or?



The pics I've posted include the connection that's used on the stock FC hoses, as I just cut the hose to take the brakes off the car...

Yes, there is a hard line thats comes out of the caliper and goes to the flex line, it is male on both ends. So buy two male fittings, and some brake line, bend it how you need it, and you are laughing.

i have stainless steel brake lines but i didnt install them they came with the car when i got it. they look pretty self explainitoryand i think that nismo is correct. btw since almost on same subject i disconnected my abs if i pull abs computer will my antilock brake light turn off?
