what would cause this? also my tach is doing the thing again where it shuts off and the CE light comes on. its something to do with the trailing coil but i dont know where to start. last time it stopped when i added a ground. maybe ill add one to the coil itself now. any help is always appreciated

my tach did this. But mine would jump around and stay stuck in the 8 K rpm making that horible noise. I took out the traling coil took apart cleaned all the posible conections with sand paper and cleand the metal brackets where the coil mounts. I added a ground and boom the tack works and the car feels a hell lot stronger(Got to love mental horse power especially now that my tach works)

the speedo is driven off the tranny directly. your tach problem is prolly the same one you've had. try cleaning the mounting for the trailing coil, its a ground

get your speedo cable lubed, they have attatchments for grease
guns to lube them. |

My speedo flipped out once on me.. found it the connection was loose behindt eh cluster.

ok so this was weird. im at the gas station and when i get back in my car my tach isnt working bc it had gone off. i notice that all of my warning lights are on but the car is still running. i look at the volts and its running 10 or 11 volts. so i turn it off and back on and the lights are still on and still low power. but the tach is working. so i drive for about ten minutes and the power finally gets back up. when it hits 12 volts the lights go off and the tach also goes off. i dont know what the deal is it seems like i have a pretty bad electrical prob to me. im tired of tis car anyone want an 89 vert for $5500??

ok so the alternator died last night and i had it rebuilt this morning. it seems to be all good now. it was charging 14 volts and the tach was staying on and the CE light was not coming on. hopefully this solved all of the probs for now!!

that has nothing to do with your speedo shaking though
speedo is a mechanical thing, it would work if you pushed your car down a hill with no battery or alternator in it. |
ok no. the tach is still doing the weird thing. i wish i had a car that didnt always have a prob. when i get one fixed i get a new one. why cant my car be like other peoples cars that dont break all the time??
