I'd put the speakers in the doors or kicks, under the dash is not the most ideal place for a speaker.

yeah, 4 inch is the stock size for the dash location but they fire at your knees.. not exactly good placement. If you get 4" components and mount the tweeters in the right position, they can add good front fill though.

well what is the size in the door. i bought my hu from crutchfield and it came with the connectors , but when i wired it up my speakers didnt work in the door so i was just going to replace the ones under the dash.................any suggestions

Depends on what model car you got.. Supposedly the cars all came wired for all the options, like power windows and door speakers and stuff like that, but if it did not come with that option, then the wires are not actually hooked up to a source. .So you can just run wires from your HU under the dash into the doors or trace the original wires and hook them up that way..

I fit 6.5 in the doors. You have to be just a tad creative when monuting, but it's not hard, you'll see. I'd run new wires to bypass the stock amp, it can give problems for both aftermarket speakers and head units. I wouldn't worry about the dash speakers.

Yup, got 6.5 in my doors too. Just a suggestion, put 6.5 components in the doors, tweeters by demester grills, toss the dash speakers, 8 inch mids will fit in rear towers if everything is removed. A little sealing work and the towers would be perfect (working on this right now) subs have to be able to handle small space, ive been looking at kicker free airs.

Tweeters in the demister grills are fine, if you want your system to be stealth or don't care about imaging. However, if you want accurate sound imaging then you'll want the mids/highs close together so that the sound is coming from the same place/area, and not separate.
