Hey guys whats up.. Ok, as we all know... the standard plugs for a non turbo rotary are NGK, right?

T--- for top

L--- for lower.

We also all know, that rotor #(1) is closest to your Radiator, Rotor # (2) is closer to you, when your sitting in the drivers seat...

My question is..

I've heard of putting TRAILING spark plugs in all four spark plug holes. is this dangerous? will it increase anything?? can something break? Simple questions... i thought of doing it, but i didnt know if i should trust it.

Thanks again. Markus

no you cant do that. Not to my knowledge. The stock plugs are like BUREQe7 or something to that extent. THe trailing spark plug is not realy needed. Its just there to make sure that most of the detonation goes thru just in case the leading missed some. The trailing also helps give the rotor a lil nudge on its way

Wow..you should really not give out information...Yes, you can. The Trailing plugs are just a colder plug, you can run all 4..lots of people do including me. And Its Trailing on bottom, Leading top. Leading are 7's, Trailing 9's.

And when it come to turbo/NA plugs...they're the same. Only difference in NGK plugs for our engines is FD plugs are platinum, and don't last as long so I hear...If you have the money, just buy HKS plugs...but you are gonna need an aftermarket ignition to gain the most out of them...oh yea, and I think last I checked they were $20.50 a piece.Don't quote me on price....

yea i have the the BUR9EQ in all four runs just a lil rough as when i start it cold but it's just barley noticable i literally have to put my face to the intake and it's only for like 30 sec to a minute depending on how hot it is outside

also relisys190 is right it's Trailing on top Leading on bottom

If you are not racing on a track all day with high rpm and/or running high boost. There is no point of using 9s on the leading. Keep the 7s on the leading for best combustion at low rpm and emmisions.

Stay with NGK, they are the best for the buck and were made for the 13b FI.

Trailing on bottom, Leading top.

Trailing on top, leading on bottom. When I purchased my car it barely ran, turns out it was mainly because the plugs were reversed. You didn't own a '90 GTu, did you? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

relisys190 03-21-2003 11:38 AM

Yeah, from what i understand... Trailing is on top.... Leading is on bottem

That's just from what i've learned. . . . and what the Haynes manual says.

so... Basically... if i'm not running on a track for for an hour at 9,000 Rpms... than i dont need to run trailing on the bottem. allright... just wondering. thanks guys.

WTF....I am going to have to go look in my book again, because I SWARE...its T on bottom...grrrrr. I always remembered it because its backwards.T for Bottom, L for top. Damn it, I don't want to be confused now..just changed them the other day too.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png

haha, perhaps its you who shouldnt give out information, lol.

A easy way to remember is Trailing is top, both words start with T's

Leading is lower, both words start with L's.
