What should a set of stock NGK spark plugs look like after a year of use?

Like hell. I'd think the electrode would be erroded down to nothing. Prolly loaded up with carbon too.

Why?

These have been in my car for what I am guessing over a year. The one on the left is the Trailing...One on the right is Leading. As long as yours don't look as bad as this you should be fine https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

But these are out of My FD so.......You be the judge https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png

ILUVMY88CABRIO: Pulled mine out and just curious, the car ran fine, it runs a little better now, just looking for info I guess. My electrodes were worn and there was a mixture of light brown and black they didn't look bad for a car that burns oil.

Joe Flo: Thanks for the pic, I can't see it for some reason but I'm at work right now, I'll try from home later.

How often are you guys changing your plugs?

Spike 05-30-2003 06:54 PM

Once a year, I spoke with a gentlemen who owned a 1989 TII who blew his engine because he let his spark plugs go for 30,000km. From what he said, one of his plugs cracked and destroyed all three of his apex seals in the rear housing...

when I drove the car daily I changed them every 3-4 months, now I change them once a year, but I put less then 1000 miles a year now.

Every 3-4 months sounds about right to me, sooner if you have a S4 that likes to flood https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png
