Okay I changed my injectors and I now have a huge vaccuum leak. I was told it was the spacers, or bushings, or atomizers that go between the injectors and the actual housing. I've called the mazda dealership and they quoted me like 30bucks per atomizer, mazdaformance said it was something else. So now I'm thourgholy confused as to what is actually there. So my question, is what actually sits between the injector and the housing. And how hard is it to remove, instructions would be helpful as far as getting it out without breaking it or cracking it if it is rubber. Thanks.

There are grommets, that make a vacuum tight seal, and 2 other pieces inside, Mazdatrix has pixs/prices..

yeah, the grommet is the part that goes on the fuel injector, it's a big black rubber donut which is supposed to seal the injector to the manifold.



then beneath the injector, the thing the injector actually butts up against / seats into is the diffuser. The diffuser has two pieces, and they are kindof pricy since you need multiples when you replace them.



your problem is probably just the grommets.

you don't need the diffusers anyhow..

I have a feeling they are there for when the injectors start dirtying up and squirting instead of spraying, so the diffuser is there to break up the stream and also hold any fuel that hasnt properly atomized in the airflow so it still gets used rather than wetting the wall and puddling. This is just my uh quick n dirty speculation though. It looks like removing them might be good for airflow.

Okay thanks. So I will need to get the grommets for the primaries and secondaries. Now as far as removal just get something that will fit in there and pull them out, and reverse for instal? Any thoughts on whether there is a better way of replacing them are much welcomed. Thanks.

Just remove the fuel rails, the grommets will either stick to the injectors (usually the top ones) or sit in the manifold and you can just work them out pretty easy with a needle nose pliers or whatever. Then press new ones in.
