I've removed all visable screws and have managed

to get the arm rest/power window controls off.

I am trying to get to the mechanics of the power window,

what do I do next? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

banzaitoyota 01-16-2003 09:20 AM

pop the clips on the bottom of the door and lift up

j9fd3s 01-16-2003 11:15 AM

gently pull the bottom of the door panel outwards

cymfc3s 01-16-2003 11:23 AM

banzaitoyota 01-16-2003 11:25 AM

I forgot to mention I use a "special" tool to pop the panel clips!

j9fd3s 01-16-2003 01:02 PM

i use my fingers and kinda do it one at a time

flathead screw driver worked for me

pengaru 01-16-2003 03:22 PM

that tool is available at autozone for cheap, it's a cross between a screwdriver, prybar, and fork.

just remember there is a screw behind where the inside door handle is

and by the way- next time you dont have to remove the arm rest, just

the 4 screws hidden underneath. There also might be some screws hidden

in the carpet along the bottom there, in the middle and on the sides.

I seem to remember prying not so gently on Banzai's TII door panel one time hehehehehe https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Nothing like seeing John and I buried up to our shoulder in a door panel thats having no thoughts of budging!! There is more to the story but still a funny picture!

banzaitoyota 01-16-2003 06:54 PM

HEY!!!!!! Thats because the door latch was broken BITCH!!!!!!!

serpent12 01-16-2003 07:16 PM

you probably wont see them until you take the panel off, they are round on one side where they slide into notches in the panel, and pointy on the other where they go into the inner door skin.

serpent12 01-16-2003 09:03 PM

Ive got the right hand side off, but it seems to be stuck down the bottom middle?

serpent12 01-17-2003 06:18 AM

Thanks guys, got it off. No visable signs of damage https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

was there a screw hidden in the carpet?

serpent12 01-18-2003 12:03 AM

Yeh it was, 2 of them! There seems to be some dodgey stuff, like bits of cable and connectors just free standing.. like it has been off before. ill post a pic and show you what I mean.....

The problems are:

No central locking (when my model should have)

Door handle light only working sometimes

Power window not lining up and making crunch noises when it gets to the top

serpent12 01-18-2003 12:05 AM

These are the 2 connectors with nothing going into them, in the upper left corner

serpent12 01-18-2003 12:07 AM

This is a weird piece of something that looks like its been snapped off?

serpent12 01-18-2003 12:08 AM

Another connector....

serpent12 01-18-2003 12:10 AM

Last one.... a black piece of something.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

Apex13B 01-18-2003 12:16 AM

those connectors are for premium sound system hook ups and **** like that are dealer end options

j9fd3s 01-18-2003 01:30 PM

ok the last pic is part of the window regulator, 2nd to last is the door speaker connector, 3rd pic up that white thing is to make the harness stiffer/easier to wrap.

serpent12 01-19-2003 05:36 AM

Can you guys tell from the first pic if my car actually does have central locking? Or what can I check?

j9fd3s 01-19-2003 12:12 PM

i dunno if they had it until 88 over here, you need to look on the passenger side for a "motor" or actuator on the lock rods. clean and lube up the window regulators while you're in there

mike

serpent12 01-20-2003 02:08 AM

ok, what are the window regulators?

j9fd3s 01-20-2003 10:39 AM

its the thing that makes the window go up and down

mike

Erik 01-22-2003 08:20 PM
