looks good here, no shaft play at all...

I am still going to say you have a seal failure in the exhaust wheel. What is the history of your turbo? Somebody said it was brand new in the other pot possibly. I would seriously call the company you purchased it from and see what they are reccemending. Either your oil ine is feeding more oil pressure than the turbo can handle, or the rear oil seal for the shaft is toast. The smoke you are getting is from the high amount of oil visable in the exhaust wheel and exhaust housing. At this point there are things you can do, one if the turbo was new, send it back to be checked. If it was used, send it to be rebuilt, or replace it with a larger single. I am fighting the same battle with a pair of HKS GT2530's on my GT-R. car runs great, no blowby idles just like it should, but the exhaust is popuring out the grey/blue smoke of burning oil. Yours will be chaeaper to fix. The turbo kit on my car is $3800 new :(

Well If i take the turbo completely apart, would I be able to tell?

I would highly reccemend sending the turbo out to be checked. there are quite a few vendors that will do the teardown and inspect them for you then give you the estimate. One I have seen products from http://wwww.turbochargers.com does a lot of work with the stock turbos accross many platforms, including Mitsubishi, garret and others. give them a call, number is on the website.
