After putting the car up so many times, I took notice yesterday how I've been bending the front jack points and they are starting to develop rust now. I always use my floor jack on the stock jack points to put it up, then put the jack stands under where the front control arms connect to the chassis. This works fine since the rounded part of the control arm fits perfect in the jack stand.

Where do you guys jack it up and place your jack stands? I was thinking of fabbing a small piece of wood to put on the floor jack so I don't do anymore damage.

You can take a wire wheel to the jack points, and brush some of that anti-rust crap on there, it comes in black.

Then either use a piece of wood or they sell jacks with rubber on them as well. A piece of scrap carpet will work fine as well.

i use different jacking points.

in the front you can use the tow hooks, the front crossmember, or if you look under the car where the front jacking point is, further toward the center is a "frame rail" and it intersects another "rail" you can use that too. any of these will save your jacking points

in the rear, use the bottom of the differential, or the rear tow hooks

I usually bend all that **** along the side, its so soft. But I started using wood a while back and now it doesn't do that.

Thanks guys. That helps. It's a bitch too to work near the tranny when I have the jack stands on the control arms.

i just roll my car up on wood planks with blocks under them

yeah, I should get new ramps too. Since I lowered it, it rubs on the ramps I have and pushes them up the driveway, just a pain in the ass.

My jack points are crushed to hell, so I just use the tow hooks. I wish I had been doing that all along.
